My RIA Tactical FS is nearly broken in and I have all components for beginning my first .45 reloads.
I'm looking at strictly range/target load information. Have many load data manuals, etc., but looking for fellow shooter's favorite range loads.
My current inventory of powder includes:
WIN 231
Win AutoComp
Hodgen Titegroup
Hodgen HP38
Alliant Bullseye
Suggestions for ...
I'll start. One of my favorites is a 200 gr Missouri Bullet BE#1 200gr SWC over 4.10 gr of plain old Clays using a Winchester large pistol primer with an OAL of 1.240. This clocks out at 844 fps. I find it a soft shooter and accurate.
If you change anything, you've changed everything.
I also prefer the 200 gr SWC bullet with Clays. But since you didn't list that powder, you might give these loads a try with a 200 gr LSWC:
Win 231: 5.0 grs
HP38 (I think that's the same as 231)
Bullesye: 4.5 grs

The 200 grain H&G pattern LSWC bullet over 4.0 grains of Bullseye has worn out many X-rings over the years. Start there.
For .45-185 JSWC ...
I've been loading 4 grains of Bullseye behind a 230 grain FMJ. I don't have a chronometer, so I can't say how fast the bullet's flying, but it's accurate enough for target practice.

I've already got 500+ 185gr LSWC bullets for the .45ACP .........
If so, that's where I'll start. Now, if I can just find some loads for my other powders.............
Thanks,...
231 hard to beat as an all around pistol powder. Just ran some 231 with 230gr FMJs. Shot very well and functioned perfect in my CBOB with a #20 spring. 231 also throws LSWCs very well too, either light or hot. I also like Bullseye, but in the BOB it's coming down to 231.
