Thread: 08 E-150 extended van?

Started 1 year, 9 months ago by jag1650
I know they havent built an E-150 super van since 1991, so what is this? 2008 FORD E150 Youngstown, OH and on the Ford Fleet site it states the following: "New for 2008, the E14, E24, S14 and S24 are available with flexible fuel (E85) capability to Government Fleet accounts." I thought "S" stood for supercargo ?? So are they building E-150 Supercargos now?

I'm looking into an '08 E350 to purchase new (400 miles) for a SMB conversion. Given that the motor is an '08 and is the detuned van version, are there the same issues with this motor as the truck 6.0's of the past years? Thanks, Brian

I was wondering if this would work? So I looked in a crash parts book and noticed that everything from the side cowl panel back looks like the numbers interchange. I've been thinkin about finding a high mileage 03 model with telescoping mirrors that way I can switched the doors out and not have to worry about any drilling, seats with armrests in the middle and other interior. So if the 08 will ...

Keep in mind that the '08 E150 has the same GVWR as an '06 E250, and has the associated 8-lug rims and bigger tires, and has the same 5,000 pound front axle. So and extended version does make sense. I also saw a spec sheet that showed the E150 can be ordered in a 12-pass version. Must be a fleet only deal though... they don't show it on the websites..

I wonder how many chrome trees had to die for that grille! Just joking... but it is sad when Ford makes a van that fugly.

The Ford dealer I dealt with about a year ago said that they did used to have a light duty E250 and a heavy duty E250. So they did away with the old E150 and made the light duty E250 the new E150.

I read somewhere Ford is offering a smaller Diesel engine in the E-150 new vans, it's a 3.?L or something like that. The engine they use in Europe. I say let's go back to the 7.3L and put a dual turbo and intercooler.

I don't know much about the axel thing, makes sense though. I don't mind the new grill in the chrome look, the black is hideous. Looks like much more air flow with the new grill. Just went on fordvehicles.com and there is no listing for an extended 150. They could be wrong on that other website.

After some research I found a 2008 e-series ordering guide that states that job#2 will include an all new E-150 extended van body code S14. See this link: http://www.sunrisefordfleet.com/pdf_...er%20Guide. pdf

I heard they are more stable now with the revised tuning. Most guys that haul heavy that I know get the egr delete "package" which voids the warranty and is illegal in some areas , but they seem to have no overboost issues as the earlier ones , so they tell me . Fuel quality is he most important thing on the 6.0

Not sure if the fenders will line up with older doors. I plan on changing the doors out anyway to get the telescoping mirrors. Just have to get the funds up now. __________________ Nick 97 E350 Exteneded Cargo 7.3 Stroker 225,000 Miles Muffler and Cat Delete Rebuilt trans with updated parts More to come but I won't bore you with that crap till its done.

Its the lubricicity of the fuel that is important , the injectors are still HUEI , so they can get damaged easily with crap fuel . Most guys add an additive like Staynadyne or synthetic 2 stroke oil or Power Service or what ever just as insurance . Also regular fuel fitler service is important. __________________ 95 E350 PSD HD Cargo , BB shim , E4OD , B&M aluminium Trans pan , HD cooler , Cat sleeps with the fishes , 3:55 D70FF,...

No sweat, I've got the Diesel lined up through a dealer for much less than SMB can get one for (since it's a new '08). I did have the discussion of time constraints with SMB though, and was told similar information about the future of diesels in the van. Brian

Hey Nick, you get around to pulling the trigger on that project, if you cant find a complete front end, and end up pieceing it together, Ive got your complete OE Chrome bumper assembly for 2008-2010 vans, including brakets and the lower plastic valance, and it will bolt onto youre van (ive tried it on my 2002). $200.00, plus greyhound, which is probably around $50. I looked up the prices for the bumper parts only, and if memory serves, it was...

i d hope by a 2008 model the early problems of the 6.0 have been corrected. i suffered all thru my 04 e350 ownership with egr, egr cooler, and turbo problems, then suffered at the end trying to sell it. resale value was 8k less than other van s previously owned.. i wonder how much support you ll get from ford given the ford/navistar relationship is all but over. __________________ '09 mazda6i grand touring, black cherry, blk leather....
