Thread: 05rr no headlights, no start??

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by Cbr600rayray
went to start bike everything seemed normal, except no backlight on gauge, tried starting and turned over fine, but didnt fire. Realized fuel pump not priming either and no headlights or high beam. Checked all fuses battery is charged and good, relays seem to be working on left side of bike, all connections seem fine, bike has not been dropped or taken apart. Any ideas of what i might need ...

If your light is not coming on then you have a bad fuse or you have a short. Taillight and headlight you have a couple fuses out or a main fuse under the seat.. Check the one next to the battery, sounds like that could be the problem. T

Buy a volt meter and check them again. Fuse can look good but still be bad. You are not getting power to the lights, first thing to check.

Tripage is getting you to fix one problem which may fix them all. And before you tear your bike apart... you just need to be sure you have good fuses. Once you know all the fuses are good, then there are other things to start checking. Last... what year bike?

It a 05 and I visually checked the fuses, they look fine, but I got a volt meter last night and am going to go thru everyone of them and check. I had scanned thru all the past posts to see if anyone has had the same prob, and found many with no fuel pump but headlights worked, also found plenty were no headlights but fuel pump was working. I went thru all the checks so far from those posts ...

The best way to troubleshoot is find one problem and fix it then move to another problem, this is where some lose their patients and think the problem is too big for them to handle. T

LOL, I actually found it before I was able to get back on the comp and see your info. Still you were right, and when I heard the fuel pump prime I got pretty excited, when it fired I hugged my bike. Def felt good to hear it fire again.
