It's a hoot reading all the posts of all these self-righteous smokers claming their right to individualism while expecting Medi-Care to pay for their health care when they knew their habit was a killer from the get go. Socialized individualism - what a bunch of literal smelly hypocrites.

Judged: 1 Using the sme "logic", it's time to start suing the liquor manufacturers and distributors for hangovers, being loud & obnoxious, puking your guts out, falling down and DUI.

Right. All you guys actually knew about the studies showing that smoking 'light' cigarettes actually exposed you to MORE tar and pollutants? These lawsuits are not about people saying "Poor me, I had no idea cigarettes were bad for me." It has to do with people's legal right to sue for misleading advertising. It was the tobacco companies' choice to continuing labelling filtered cigarettes 'light...

Judged: 1 1 1 Historically most tobacco advertising has been focused on children. Children do not have a full understanding of the health issues related to tobacco. More than 95% of tobacco sold in the United States is sold to people who were addicted before they were 18. By the way, about 6,500 children died last year in the United States do to exposure to second hand ...

Mr. Biggs, I bet you are looking froward to April 2009 if you and your ISP are in Dallas. We've had the ban in Chicago since Jan 08. In my family big babies are a trend, so my SIL smoked during her pregnancy with the objective of reducing her baby's birth weight. It worked and now she doesn't know why my nephew has asthma. So, to those people making logical and intellingent remarks about this ...

What MORON actually thinks like this?? Im a smoker and even "I" know better than that. A light cigarette just means less particulates MAYBE a bit less nicotine. Im sick of this crap if you are too stupid to figure out by now that smoking does indeed cause cancer then you dont deserve to get paid for getting cancer doing something you KNOW causes it. And again, im a smoker and im pro smokers rights but this isnt about rights...

1. People know that tobacco is bad for them. 2. They still want a 'fix'. 3. They smoke 'low tar' cigarettes knowing they shouldn't, but it could be better than FULL tar cigarettes. 4. They now can sue because SOME ONE ELSE is responsible for their habit.

Light or low tar cigarettes does not really matter as all tabacco products are bad for your health ! Cigarettes would have been banned years ago except tabacco products bring in much needed tax revenue to the states !
