What is even more amazing is to think that less than 20 years ago, this area (and most of the other Docklands area) was used as the primary production site for the second half of the movie Full Metal Jacket - ie the ...

I've never been to Canary Wharf, but I get the impression it must feel like a self-contained, stale corporate fortress. At least the canals seem to make it a bit more tempered than La Defense.

Having been to La Dfense and Canary Wharf numerous times - both are very different (even if you were to exclude the docks - not canals). La Dfense was built primarily in the 60's and 70's with good old French social engineering thrown into the mix to bring together a large new CBD for Paris (for some reason its called the largest CBD in Europe, but London City, London West End and Paris Central ...

Skyline pic 35-40 miles due west of London by SSC forumer [b]Dom[b] The Canary Wharf & City cluster 'merge', while the tall lone tower is the BT Tower in London's West End. The large looped thing isn't the London Eye but the whopping 133m tall arch (lights up at night) of the new Wembley Stadium.

288m Bishopsgate 'Helter Skelter' Tower has been given approval. The current site of offices were built in the 70's and are butt ugly, while demolition of the property could begin by the end of this year. Unfortunately no major flagship tenants have been signed up and it is unsure if development wil be geared towards a speculative build. The good news is that its designed towards multi-tenants ...

Now that Nick has his back turned...and Im speaking in a low voice so he cant hear me: The first time ( a while ago) I saw a rendering of that ground floor, I got goose bumps...that is crazy beautiful...yes like a Victorian hoop shirt being raised...or Queen Ann period architecture on drugs....its just magnificent.
