A group of us went up to the RRV on Saturday and made a number of visits, culminating with dinner at Mosaic (highly recommended). We stopped by Kathleen's place in the afternoon and tasted the following: Inman Family Russian River Valley Pinot Gris 2007 - Always one of the best California Pinot Gris, this may be the best from Inman. Light and sprite, impeccably balanced, with a ...

Thanks for the notes, Steve. Kathleen's wines have been favorites of ours since we tasted with her last year - we find her pinots very elegant. Having just received the order form last week, I can say "thanks for the reminder" as I start filling it out.

Steve, Wow, a couple of weeks ago, you reported on the Scherrer open house. That had me drooling. Now Inman a couple of weeks later, and you have hit two of my favorites. I need to get out to wine country badly. Thanks for the great detailed notes. Really cements for me my joining Kathleen's wine club. Cheers, Sandy

Great notes Steve. I did like that '07 Pinot Grigio when we had one back in June at DCK in Healdsburg. All these wines sound great. And Mosaic for dinner. Yum. Thanks for sharing. I need more Inman Family in the cellar.

Thanks for the great notes! And it's good to hear that the OGV is bouncing back from the frost! I'm really interested in the '07 and '08 vintages - Kathleen mentioned in her recent mailer that she will start keeping the wines in barrel longer starting with '07. I wonder what effect that will have on the already great profile of her wines...

M., I would say that the extended time in barrel will round out the wines, balance the flavors by letting the fruit evolve and ripen the tannins. It is my understanding that when you pick earlier, the skins can be more crunchy and tannic and the additional time allows for those tannins to ripen and lengthen. For those interested, Kathleen picked Thorn Road Ranch (Thorn Ridge) yesterday ...
