I am thinking about getting a new phone to replace my x500. T Mo does not have 3G yet, but I dream on and on about it. Yeah I could switch to At and T now, but dearly hate theose guys. Anyway the question is, will any phone i get that supports HSPDA or whatever you call it work with T Mo's or At and t's 3G network or do different versions of the "network protocol" that require a ...

I'm pretty sure T Mo will be using 2100 band and ATT uses 1900. So you would obviously want to have a phone that possibly does both. I'm not sure if there is one out there.

No phone currently works on both at&t and T-Mo's 3G network. at&t use 850/1900 and T-Mo use 1700/2100. So to get a device usable on both you would need a quad-band 3G phone which is unlikely for now.

If you are going to stick with T-Mo, I don't quite understand why you need a phone that will cover ATT as well. Are you planning on using a single "quad-HSDPA" phone to use with ATT and then use the same phone with Tmo with they roll out their own 3G? You may be better off just buying a cheap used 3G-enabled ATT phone for now if you're going to stray to ATT, and then buying ...

3G is still MANY times slower than wi-fi... Since you asked about 3G it is apparent you are interested in high speed connection (which 3G is NOT anyways), so - unless you live in a rural (where there won't be 3G probably) or a small-township area - why do you need 3G at all? (not to mention the extortion prices charged by american carriers LOL). People often overlook ubiquity...
