Smitty, File #3 seems to be a little bit small. The other files run about 40 - 50 minutes while file # 3 only runs 17. Is it complete or did you edit it for broadcast at a later date??

Lacey, These shows were transferred to MP3 from the six (two sided) original 33-1/3 vinyl records. Each part contains three sides from the records. Part 3 is missing most of the entire sixth record which contained a special production of Arch Obler presents "The Cat Wife." Part 4 Side 1: Remember Golden Radio? Side 2: Day Time Radio & Commercials. Side 3: The Great ...

This looks interesting. The first Old Time Radio programmes I ever heard were on a 33 1/3 rpm vinyl LP with narration by Jack Benny. It was only a single disc, so it wasn't this one -- unless there was an abridged re-issue in the 1960s. The amusing thing today is that at the time I thought this would probably be my only chance to hear old radio fare. Little did I know!

OK, I've downloaded these and listened to some of them, and yes it is the same one that I heard back in the Sixties. In fact I probably still have it somewhere in my old records. I remember particularly Benny's glowing tribute to radio drama after the excerpt from The Shadow ; I could recall it almost word for word after all these years.

I'm working on long ago memories here. I don't actually remember the Cat Wife play being on the LP -- since it may have been an abridged re-release it might not have made it on to the single-LP version. I wonder what I did with that? It might be in the library, but it would take some getting to....

Mike: I have that same recollection, but I remember it as a 2 record set, not one. I had that abridged set, and may still have it but I'd have to search through all my lps, which are scattered in our basement in several spots. The set I have(had) was called (if memory serves me) The Golden Age of Radio and it clearly was an abridged version of the "Golden Memories' set. It ...
