Hi there, I am looking to buy a new computer and am stuck between the value for money and power of a desktop vs. portability of a laptop. I have finally settled that I need the portability more than the power - and hopefully can get something in the US (so will help with the money side). Hmm, the others must be distracted. Or something. Personally, I don't think much of Desktop Replacement Notebooks - they are a niche market. They're portable in the sense that you can move them from one desk to another. But they're too heavy to carry around in a backpack up Elizabeth Street every day, they don't last long on batteries and they have limited expandability because well, they're not...

Many thanks. Indeed I really struggled with going down this path. I am just going to want to move this back and forth from the study to the living room and very occationally out of the house to my parrents etc. then plug it in when it gest to the new location. So battery and weight is not really an issue. I found this on the US HP web site for just under $2,500 AUD; Operating system Genuine ...
