Here's a couple pics of my new pup I'm picking up Weds He's a pudelpointer, and I'm pretty excited about this breed. He should be great for waterfowl (even late season icy water) and point/retrieve upland. Until recently I had never even heard of this breed. The family is pretty excited to pick up the new member of the family. Grouse and ducks look out this fall Bringing chukars to hand...

I had a chance to watch a couple PPs test both for a Natural Ability and the Utility Test last month. All 3 dogs came from Cedarwoods. The NA dog (approx 12 mos) had a great temperment as well as good desire in the field. The UT dogs (about 2-3 yrs old) (in my opinion) where trained a bit hard in being just hunting dogs. The UTs worked hard but took little pleasure in life outside the field....

NEBS, if you haven't done so already you may want to get a reservation in for the Natural Ability test quickly for either this fall or next spring. I found out the hard way that it can be a bit frustrating finding a date and location that works. I tested my SM last month at 12 months. PM me if want any insight. It was my first time and had I known then what I know now, I would have been more...

Cedarwood gun dogs. It's a kennel out of Boise. I've very impressed with the breed. Can't wait to pick him up in the morning Even though you probably can't tell in the pick, they have thick coats for late season ducks too.

If you google pudelpointers you'll get a bunch of good sites. cedarwood gundogs is where I'm getting mine, and they have a website, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it? The history explains how they were developed in the early 1800's. If you check the waterfowl gallery, that first dog exploding like a rocket into the water is this pups grand daddy. No sissy french poodles here

Canyonduck, That is very nice of you to offer some insight. I have to admit I don't have any experience with training or tests. I think I'd be way out of my league, but learing does sound fun. I'll post more pics when I pick him up tomorrow.
