Looks like Virginia is already getting ready for it. Hearing Virginia EOC (155.895) active with and without PL (91.5) and maybe a patch to STARS. I don't have STARS programmed into my radio now but I should later today. Should be an interesting test of the system. I'm located in downtown Richmond, by the way.

Well if nothing else, this will be a good initial test to see how well the discone I installed earlier this year is secured. I don't have it going yet, but later this evening I'll have the 500 on either the RH 77 or a mag mount scanner antenna on the porch scanning STARS. I heard a dispatch for York County FD a bit ago. House fire where the owner was filling their generator while ...

I just got STARS programmed into my radio so we'll see what happens. 155.895 has remained quiet for a while but word on the street is the EOC is opening offically for this event until 9pm tonight. Another note: it seems like 146.880 is in Skywarn mode. I haven't heard anything on there except people keying up the the repeater.

another edit: 146.880 is being monitored at Virginia EOC now it sounds like. Still not too much coming up on STARS.

Let us know if you hear anything on ORION. STARS is pretty dead considering the situation, although, at least here in Richmond we're just getting rain. No wind or anything else of that sort.

Thanks, I was cooking breakfast during your earlier morning test and in my RV checking the generator likely around 1pm, so missed them both. We have a tower here in Driver also about 6 miles from me.

Woke up really early (I have work at 11) and STARS is nothing but reports of accidents on the interstates around Richmond. Nothing on the 460.2625 VSP special frequency, which I should be able to hear. Does anyone know what the status of the race is today with this weather and all?

Hi Frank. Comms were yesterday during preparations, then again early this morning when everyone was spinning up. The TG1401 testing was this afternoon around 1pm (as I remember). They were testing with a VB dispatcher. That is when TG1401 was referred to as IC-1. What I should have done was try to see if it was patched in to any of the TG's on the VB 800 system. The testing was brief and I didn't have time to check. Since the storm...

Well, there has not been much of anything in my area of York County. Scanners have been relatively quiet. A few trees over power lines. No serious accidents that I have heard. Dominion Power is definitely busy though. Again, no large power outages from the sound of it, just lots of little ones (like my neighborhood for about an hour and half from 1143 to 1330). Actually we can't seem to have a storm of any kind in this area where I...
