A friend of mine was given this Sistema in trade for work several years ago and he asked me if I could find out more about it. He is trying to decide whether to keep it or sell/trade it for a more modern 'feature filled' 1911 like my Dan Wesson PM-7. If you could help him out I/we would certainly appreciate it. What does he have here and if he decides to sell it what would it be worth? I ...

It's a refinished Sistema made in Argentina during the early 1950's. I can't be certain because I can't tell if the serial number is 69xxx or 89xxx. Normally, there is some imprint on the right side of the slide which would indicate what branch of the military got the pistol. I'm guessing all that was wiped away when it was refinished. The imprint on the front of the slide appears to be the ...

It looks like the slide # matches the frame #. If the barrel has the same number that would be good, it would enchance the value a tiny bit. No mention of how the gun shoots though. If it can shoot 4 inches at 25yds without malfunction I would keep it. Value is whatever the buyer will pay and the seller will take. To me, function is important so I place some value on it. In the market, the ...

Thanks guys. The first digit is 6 and the barrel is numbered to match the frame and slide. He probably would be happier with a more modern gun but I suspect if it is only worth $250 or so he will keep the Sistema. He really likes it. He just likes mine better. I will pass the info on. Thanks!

That pistol is easily worth 450 to 500 dollars if not much more. Sistema 1927s in that condition are going upwards of 1000 dollars on the auction boards. The marks on the right hand of the slide were not "wiped" away during the arsenal refinish. The lack of them either indicates it is either a police issue or a commercial model. It is a excellent pistol in all regards. It was made on Colt ...

Quote: If you put that on one of the for sale boards on one of the gun sites at 500 dollars it would be gone on a matter of hours if even that long. 500 dollars would be a steal for that these days. You mean like this one? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=101235 850 The OP's pistol definitely looks refinished and one cannot ...

There's no reserve. Without a better picture of the OP's pistol, we can't say for sure, but I believe the right side of the slide has been wiped due to the first part of the serial number being so weak. Possibly, that's the angle of the picture but on the various police issue Sistemas I've seen there has always been some legend. It's possible it was a civilian issue but even those had some ...
