yep, they don't show up..... because they know their high powered hounds can't pass it....... it's easy to set on the computer & tell everybody how wonderful a dog is & how they made NtCh in 3 hunts & GrNtCh in 5 hunts, but when it's time to go out alone and prove it, THAT'S another story......... a dog w/ a hunt test title is more impressive than a NtCh title any day... w/ a hunt ...

They are alot more pleasureable to no argueing just out watching a dog do what it should .Right now we are not having any do to getting dark late and the heat plus the leaves but come fall we will be back at them .I will say the dogs we get are not the dogs you see at the hunts .

They aren't showing up because the titles carry no weight. It's kinda like being knighted by the Queen.....who gives a crap?

I disagree with Jim on this. Although I have never been to a test hunt (I'm not even sure if any are held in my area) I think they do tell alot about the dog. If they pass their hunt test then there is no denying they can get it done right by themselves. No arguing either way either they pass or they don't. JMO

My guess is this.... #1 Time of year is not conducive to having these tests. Probably best time of year is fall/winter...with the leaves off. I know I don't want to travel, pay for gas, pay for entry, have my dog tree in a big ole bushy maple tree, and not be able to find a coon when I know one is there. The down side of these hunts is if you enter...you are in a way ...

Titles lead to pups....right or wrong. A good share of those who title a dog are looking to get pups off that dog, be it male or female. And litters must be disposed of, that means selling pups. Pleasure hunters aren't puppie buyers. Comp hunters and wannabe comp hunters buy pups. Buyers want program nominated pups off titled dogs. That may suck but it is the real world. Not too many are...
