Algae in water pans/buckets/etc.. I was told that you can coil a little copper tubing in the bottom of the water bucket and algae won't form. Does anyone have knowledge on this practice?

rm weather pails food dishes and such should be washed everyday as warm weather brings all kinds of bacteria that multiplies quite readily in warm wet conditions so i would say there would be no algae forming if feed and watr dishes were kept clean

Yes it is extremely hot here too, hot enough I wont go to the woods. You can add a drop of bleach to your dogs water to keep the algea growing. Just a few drops though for 5 gallons, dont over do it.

I put a few caps of Clorox in the big horse tank because cleaning it is a major operation. For the dogs, I just have extra buckets. When they start to get the green slime, I pull them out and pour a few caps of bleach in, fill with water and let them stand overnight. Then I rinse them and they go back into the rotation. Mine will go a week or two between cleanings.
