I had follow the steps at PortForward.com I have obtained ip, subnet mask, default gateway addresses; however, both the default gateway and name server have the same addresses, and so PortForward.com said "Log into your router's web interface, and look at your router's status page. On that page you should see an entry for DNS Servers, or Name Servers" The problem is where is my "router's web ...

Generally, visiting the gateway address in your browser is how you access it.

I had followed all the steps on portforward.com but when i try to connect, it won't. Instead, this comes up (again): Checking port 63672 on wan ip address... Error! Port 63672 does not appear to be open. first of all, i don't know what 96.247.80.138 is. so can anyone help me...

96.247.80.138 is your WAN IP. This IP is what everything outside of your local network sees. When port forwarding, you need to assign a static IP for your computer. Furthermore, it needs to be set outside of the DHCP range for your router (the router should tell you what range of IPs that is, and also let you configure it).

Outside my DHCP range? So like if my DHCP starts at 192.165.0.100 and ends at 192.165.0.199 then i need to get a IP static address either below 100 or above 199? I went through the steps the get my static IP, but i guess it doesn't feel like i've gotten it for some reason. Do we choose our own static IP? (well i kind of did, when i first did the ipconfig /all, the ipv4 address was 192.168.0.103...

Yes, you have to manually setup and choose a static IP. You don't do it in your router, you do it in the LAN connection settings on your PC. You don't touch anything related to IP in the router. Whatever IP you choose is the one that'll show up in ipconfig afterwards.

This is what i think. You are using now ip address 192.168.0.103 for your pc. Set in your router (//192.168.0.1) 192.168.0.103 TCP 63672/63672 always Check on your system if the windows firewall is running. Yes add then this port (63672) to it. Now test the connection again. regards, Raoul

i tried that. it didn't work. My firewall was off all this time i had been testing the port. I don't know why the steps tell me to put "both" instead of just TCP but i tried both ways too and no luck. Any other problems might this happen? sigh~ this is so complicated...

(Hope this doesn't give away any valuable information.. like hackers etc yikes.. if so TELL ME please.. so i'll know next time) You can change the ip address 96.247........ in to "WAN IP address". You can't connect to the router (with the wireless network connection). Did you ever try to connect with a utp cable? And go to //192.168.0.1 If i have this kind of problems i always try to connect by a cable. What al the time works. I have no experiance with Vista, with that i can't help you.
