I have a Charvel with a Floyd Rose style trem which I blocked. The biggest reason I blocked it was bending. When I would bend, the springs would give just enough to make me have to bend that much harder to get the note up to where I wanted it. I probably should have built up the skill of doing some of the bending with the trem, but I just found I didn't care that much for the effect anyway. ...

dont know the story with floyds but when i blocked my AM strat there was definitely more sustain. but that was coming from a floating setup,if your's isnt floating then there wont be much difference. im guessing your going to block it with a wedge of wood, but you could just screw down the bridge and claw screws till the bride is flat against the body. that way you can still bend down.

I have been mulling over a callaham block for quite some time now. My main reason for this upgrade is because I want way more sustain from my guitar and i currently have the mexican strat upgrade block in that came stock. I would go for the callaham, but I'm worried it will change my sound too much (i.E. make it to metallic and bright and maybe even brittle sounding) as I have heard on some ...

My floater was blocked but now I got 5 springs and a few screw cranks to keep it in place. Hardly used the trem except for Lenny. When it was stock the other strings would go flat when one was bent plus it stays in tune a bit better now. I remember thinking there was more sustain when I first did it but that was a while back and my ears might have been hearing what they wanted to hear.
