I just read that JD was going to be playing the mad hatter in Tim BUrtons 'Wonderland' right....johnny depp AGAIN I know that what i'm going to get here is people saying "But they make such WONDERFUL films togther, bla bla they're the best team of actor-director." But sheesh (and don't get me wrong i did love Sweeney Todd/Sleepy Hollow/Scissorhands etc) can't they seperate for five ...

So Burton should break his partnership with one of the best and most popular actors working today, with whom he has an excellent working and personal relationship and who he knows can give him the kind of performances he wants, just so he can experiment with casting in the hopes that he might eventually find someone that can do the job as well as Depp. Yeah, that makes perfect sense....

Yeah he should because he might create something NEW and DIFFERENT. When he first started working with Depp, Johnny was a new actor and Tim took a chance on him and look how great it turned out! Now is the time that he should take a chance on someone else. you hate me because i'm southern! -elizabeth taylor-

no his movie is NOT new and different, that's what i'm trying to say. With his using depp although the films are good it is repetetive. I'm not saying he has to take some kid off the streets and cast him in the main role. But for Burton to work with another established actor (like he did with Ewan McGregor/Billy Crudup in BIG FISH) that would be good and something amazing could some of...

UPDATED Wed Jul 30 2008 03:30:11 The only thing repetitive about their collaborations is the credits. You might had a point if Depp was someone like Denzel Washington, who although a great actor, he doesn't vary his performances much. But Depp has never given the same performance twice. He always brings something new, which is why Burton likes him so much, as he has often stated...

Call me crazy, but I think it's Tim Burton's job to try to make his films as GOOD as possible. He's not going to screw-up his casting just so he can say "Look, this is different!" Johnny Depp is always right for the parts Burton casts him in. I really don't understand people complaining about this when there isn't actually an issue. I'm not a Johnny Depp fan, but he's great in all ...

lol, yes the credits are the upmost repetetive thing. Okay i just want to clear this up. I LOVE Depp-Burton, please don't get that wrong. However, nearly every film that Burton makes nowadays is with DEPP. They don't have to 'Break-up'. I just wish that he would use another actor for one or two films. Its not as if either of their careers would really suffer from this because we ...

OK, I'm interested in your opinion then...Which actors would you like to see Burton work with? Who could contend for the same roles he gives to Depp? X Whatever It Is You're Looking For, You Won't Find It Here X

Yep. Frankly, I don't see the big deal. Alright, so Burton might be overdoing it a little, but Depp is a great actor, so itsno biggie at all. Besides, Alice n Wonderland is right up both Burton and Depp's alley, anyway. They're the right people for the project in question. "All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you." -Gandalf

I actually disagree I completely understand where you're coming from - but i think the Depp Burton combo works so well, so why tear it apart? Depp is diverse, so what if Burton uses him again and again? - Depp isn't complaining and he's brilliant on screen. He adapts himself perfectly to fit every role he plays in my opinion, so why not use him again and again? On a side note - they enjoy working together, which always ensure a...

I agree. It's just an opinion. I'd be sad if Tim made a more spectacular presentation of someone other than Depp who was kind of stupid. I almost think he does, but it's not worth mentioning in this context. I don't like to be critical, but it's hard to like child actors. nu rival to black entertainment rival as in nat interested nat as in

- "No artist can progress without change, you need to keep evolving!" - I completely agree. Burton has created the same film over and over again, simply changing the film titles. I feel that Burton is almost afraid NOT to cast Depp because he knows his films won't be as successful without him. Most of "Burton's fan" are tween girls who just want to drool over Johnny Depp. - And even though the Mad...

My biggest arguement in the on going "Burton and Depp" debate is that he has always cast that way. He casts a few big names or people he has worked well with and then casts a few unknown actors. He did that in 1990 with Edward Sissorhands: he had worked with Winona Ryder before and also cast the big names Dianne Wiest, Alan Arkin and Vincent Price. But for the lead he cast the then reletively unknown Johnny Depp. He...

its very rare that you find two people that fit together so well, all of their work is genious, why would you want to stop something like that anyway? apart theyre amazing but together is what makes it better. Burton and Depp should stick to what they're doing. -come and visit your good friend sweeney-
