A great online music site with no piracy problems | Thread profile

I ran across a site called Magnatune when using Rhythmbox, the default music player in Gnome. They have several hundred artists there and a few thousand albums. You can listen to the music for free, with some commercial interruptions for Magnatune commercials, buy a membership for $9 a month to stream music with no commercials, buy a download membership for $18 a month that allows you ...

If only there were artists I recognized. Although I don't plan on subscribing, I do see the benefit of something like this, both for the independent artist and the consumer who wants to look for new and interesting music.

its interesting to see music can now be download in ogg format.. i remember the first time many years ago i found a while in ogg format.. i couldnt find a player!! freddy what are your thoughts on that format.. think it has the potential to replace .mp3?

I wish the entire music system make a vast shift I think ALL monies should go to the artist, the artists manager is responsible for paying for a publisher, marketing, and other such things that a big publisher normally does in return for eating 80%+ of the revenue! atleast then I know all my money goes to the artist, and its his/her problem if they squander it all lol
