What the hell is going on in USA. It seems if you buy a house in USA that you cannot really afford, but get a mortgage anyway, then dont pay it, the whole worlds shares go spriralling down along with pension funds, retirement plans etc. How on earth non payment of a mortgages in one country can affect all the shares in Japan and UK etc is beyond me. I got out of shares and Property a while back. When (if) house prices fall ( some have already) I will buy a few at much more appealing price than they are now

A year or so later, hordes of investors swarmed in from other countries and bought up a lot of houses, flipped them and drove up our prices. Homes are for nesting in NOT investimng in! House prices are then relative as we need somewhere to live. Thank you to Roland for explaining how this has happened. Got a bit better yesterday after your interest rate cut.

Homes are a commodity, just like most things. Shares are very risky, pensions are worthless and inflation eats at any savings and so property is a good investment.
