Alternative to Audacity? - Zelda Universe Forums | Thread profile

Can anyone here recommend a good, reliable substitute for Audacity, one that does the same things it does (one that's also freeware)? I ask because there are some files I'm trying to convert from WAV to MP3 and give a five-second fadeout to. Most of the files are converting just fine, but there are a few that Audacity simply won't play or do anything with, and it's driving me nuts. Any help?

Audacity is the best, all others that compare are not freeware. You can change the format with iTunes, and add the fadeout with Audacity.

Wow, great idea Jaken--it worked! Dang, the solution was right under my nose this whole time. Earlier today, I was exploring all sorts of dark, scary, porn-ridden torrent sites looking for an alternative--when there was iTunes right there on my compy desktop! So, thank you Jaken--and mods, feel free to lock, stock, and barrel this puppy.

Also a quick note : If you're using Mac or Linux, there's a freeware program known as Ardour that works very well indeed. It's almost at professional level software. But there's no windows version. *cough*suckstobewindows*cough*
