Was at the local shelter picking up frontline for my mutt when the fiancee noticed a tag on the one room of Yellow lab, 18months, loves everyone. Of course i made the mistake of taking a look inside to see a beautiful female yellow lab named Autumn. We went round and round, but decided it was too good of a dog to pass up. She had a temperment like our current dog, just wants to be petted ...

Flyguy, Cute pup. Also a big pup w/ a big tougue Dogs usually are happier on the couch than in a shelter! You might want to check to see if they'll give you a credit if you have your vet spay her. I imagine that will be one of her first trips anyway. Don't know if the overnight stay will affect bonding though. BH _________________ If you're gonna shoot the dog, ...

shes a 65lb teddy bear. follows us around everywhere we go and wants to be close. Has already picked up a few obedience commands she didn't know. i'm not sure if she'll have an overnight at the vets or not. all of our other animals were dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. Shes used to being kept in the kitchen so she has a nice quiet place to rest and recover....

Great! Good Luck. She sounds like a good dog. The way things are going, maybe we should change the forum name to "Sporting & Rescue Dogs". I DO have an empty crate... Naw, roads are too bad to go to work... so I can't go to the pound... BH _________________ If you're gonna shoot the dog, make darned sure you shoot the owner first!

she'll be spayed monday. I have no interest in breeding her, or brining more pups into the world. as of right now i'll get to bring her home next wednesday after shes all fixed up. _________________ spend a day with the fishes... www.paddleandpole.com

I asked why she was there first, to see if there were going to be any underlying behavior problems. Seems the previous owners got her with the intentions of using her as a breeding dog to make money on the puppies. They quickly found out that the single room of a 500sqft apartment they stuck her in wasn't appropriate for a growing lab and gave the her up for adoption so they could raise ...

Good for you and Autumn! I'm finding with my rescued Lab that you've just got to give him or her plenty of time to grow accustomed to you. I've had Cirrus two months now, and he's doing great! Post pictures when you get some, we'd love to see them.

Don't want to get too high on a soap box, but.. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE have her fixed. If she even was a registered lab, chances are that you are not got to get the registration transferred to you unless the previous owners allow. So, without her being registered to you, you couldn't register any pups, so what is the point. Also, you don't know the pedigree she has. How are the hips, ...

Now that I think about it, I should have realized that. I think it is standard practice at most, if not all animal shelters to spay and neuter any animal that gets adopted through there doors. --Roger

every once in a while, our pound will get a nice lab or two. They seem to be full of pit bulls nowadays... Good luck with her... _________________ Semi-auto or pump...take your choice ! *********** "I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt !"
