Salam, I have had this idea for a while, I want to know if you all think this is a workable solution to the problem of single muslims and muslimas not able to find a spouse. Here is the idea. BTW, if you think it is a good idea, you are free to 'borrow' it and implement it in your local community. I've been watch similir idea in VOA acouple of months ago (maybe a year, Im not sure). I dont know if it is like a seminar, but the idea is similar, each participant (man and woman) meet and talk for a min, then move to other table to meet other participant. At the end, at least, they will found someone who they think match.

The secular folks call such an approach "speed dating". You'd need numbers to make is successful, and in communities where there are numbers, scarcity is not so much of an issue.

Its a splendid idea.

sounds like a good ideaa but who;'s gonna implement it? make the website and arrange everything???

You are right about the lack of social contacts being a barrier, but you can be well-known and still not be able to get married because of cultural boundaries as well as physical ones. Physical: segregation and also people get so busy with their lives that they do not come to the mosque often enough to meet a spouse. Cultural: self-explanatory.

Salaam, This is similar to speed dating, as smiley pointed out. They have this concept called muslim speed dating which is organised and sounds very similar, although it's not specific for any school of thought. However the places i have seen it advertised, also advertise a lot of other rather liberal events in the name of Islam.

I hear they tried something like that at Muslim Congress!!
