Jooi, what do Sunni's think of Tijani's books; for example: "Ask Those Who Know" ? Have any of them actually read it ? What do you say about the arguments brought therein ? Is there any specific one that you have confidently identified as false, and would like to discuss it here ? With Prayers For Your Success, The Persian Shah

I have not read this specific book in detail, but I have read "The Shi'ah are (the real) Ahl al-Sunnah," in which I found numerous falsehoods (not only about Sunni, but also Shia theology and doctrine), and assertions that I can't believe could come from someone who is in any way well acquainted with Sunni and Shia thought. So, my enthusiasm for his other works has been dampened....

You can view one post I wrote about his ideas concerning the role of the Qur'an and sunnah (which solidified in my mind his incompetence) in post #10 of this thread: http://www.shiachat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic= 234945800 I have not read the book in several months now, but I also recall him saying that Sunni hadiths in favor of music justified Umayyad debauchery (while in fact Sunni...

yeah, strangely it never fails, someone who doesn't want to identify themself as either shia nor sunni, yet they always follow the sunni stuff, unless they're along the lines of the submitters ( Qur'anists).

QUOTE (Aliya @ Jul 14 2008, 09:42 PM) yeah, strangely it never fails, someone who doesn't want to identify themself as either shia nor sunni, yet they always follow the sunni stuff, unless they're along the lines of the submitters (Qur'anists). I agree and disagree with parts of both Sunni and Shia schools of thought. I do not identify as either. Aliya, I feel less important ...

apologies if my tone doesn't convey as well when typed, I think it has to do with me often being in a hurry and not wanting to be overly wordy, it can appear terse, when I don't mean it to be. And I wasn't commenting on your post, but rather ShiaSoldier's comment in post #6 as a simple observation.

QUOTE (avjar7 @ Jul 15 2008, 10:36 PM) According to Sunnis, Imam Abu Hanifa wrote Fiqh al-Akbar during his lifetime, and thus, it would have been prior to the compilation of Sahih Bukhari that he stated: "The most virtuous of all men after the Messenger of God, -- may God's peace and blessings be upon him! – are Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him; then 'Umar ibn al-...

QUOTE (waiting @ Jul 16 2008, 06:44 AM) Abu Hanifa is not a muhaddith, nor did he hear this from a companion himself. But in anycase, for this to even be considered, you'll have to bring a original scan preceding the 20th century. The books printed after that date have undergone heavy re-writing and censorship, mainly through petrodollars provided by the Salafi regime in Occupied ...

QUOTE I really couldn't care less, I'm not Sunni, this is just the response that I got when I asked a Hanafi person. Could you please present to us the original argument used by Tijani please............ QUOTE Again, I don't care, I'm not Sunni, this issue is tertiary compared to the critique about the chapter about the Qur'an and sunnah that I posted. Link ?...
