Multiple reports of problems using certain VPN programs, if VPN is a must have be aware this is probably the wrong router to receive. May be worth asking at point of order to see if you could specify receiving the Netgear router.

Wireless SSIDs appear to have an unnecessary restriction on them. The router appears to accept SSIDs only if they consist of letters, digits or the symbols dash and underscore. The 802.11 specifications have no such restriction, so there are legal SSIDs which cannot be entered into the router.

Does anyone have any more info on whether the Sagem is suitable for VPN. This would be a real show stopper for me as I'm about to sign up to SKY and use my PC at home a lot for work.

If its' Microsofts attempt at VPN (the 'connect to my office' type setup in Network connections) then you are fine as its by-enlarge just a port forward type reqiuirement. If your VPN server is more ellaborate/not a fudge from MS then you server will need to support/have enabled NAT traversal. If its not enabled, or you dont have that sort of option then you a probably on a hiding to ...

I have a feeling the new SAGEM router is incompatible with the new AVG 8.0 antivirus software when installed on Vista. 2 different systems both running Vista loose all internet access once AVG 8.0 is installed. The systems just loose the Internet Gateway address completely somewhere and can't resolve any DNS.
