GUTTED...HAD MY STI V5 A WEEK AND BIG ENDS GONE!! | Thread profile

Well guys I'm absolutely gutted, as you know just got my STI V5 about a week ago and the big ends just gone today, absolutely gutted. Problem is i'm in a right dilema here, i can't really afford the repair bill as i think i'm looking at at least 2k+ to get repaired, and thats money i do not have. Now i've worked out that i could probably break the car for close to £6k but don't wont to do ...

I'm sorry to here that mate thats terrible after only a week? did you buy it privately i take it? Have a good think what you want to do - it might be worth begging or borrowing the money just to get it done so you can get it on the road, i had the same problem, bought a Scoob for 7 grand and sold it for 4 grand yet it ended up standing me at 14 grand with various running costs and repair ...

I've been in this boat before and what started out as a 2k reapair ended up costing me close to 5k and in the end i sold the car for 6k, so i dont want to go down that road again, do you think i could get 4.5k for the car as is, as to someone who can work on cars could be a nice car once up and running again as the car is mint. i've also had a look on ebay and seen you can buy a recon sti ...

have a word with someone at grade-A subaru and see if they have an engine mate. if they do have one they used to bung in the service history with the engine. so you generally know there good. plus iirc you get a limited warranty, or a doa warranty. but they generally need to be fitted within 1 or 2 weeks. id not go down the rebuild route as your going to be sat on a car you have to keep forever ...

yes but did he sell it in good faith? when you buy a car, can you look inside the engine? of course not! so how can it be sold as seen?
