Hello, i've been on bb max for just over a week now, not finding it to bad just the normal things like slow pages loading, which i read through these forums and changed the dns over , also used tcpoptimizer which also gave a little boast . Now i was issued with the new black netgear router, it was always re-syncing at max 4900kbs and the nosie margin would go down to as low as 0 an no higher ...

Your stats are fine - slight line noise but nothing to worry about. No, you're not capped. You're on G.DMT (and ADSL2+ wouldn't give you more speed due to your line length/attenuation). A sync of 4928kbps is excellent for an attenuation of 50db. No, you won't get faster unless you move house to be nearer the exchange.

wow! ok thanks saturday. one more thing so if i put my new black netgear back on would all be ok still. cause with that it was showing very low noise margin as low as 0db and was never going up too the 6.9db that i've read to be a good nosie margin.

6.9db isn't a "good" noise margin as such - it's just the figure Sky has chosen for their firmware as the default figure i.e in normal circumstances the router will sync at the fastest speed it can for a minimum margin of 6.9db. Why your black Netgear isn't syncing at 6.9db I couldn't say. As far as I'm aware this is the default figure for this model/firmware too. However, don't worry about ...

Well that's odd - your stats with the DG834GT are excellent yet terrible with the new Netgear. Assuming that the stats are comparable (i.e. the routers were connected the same way) you either have a very odd line problem that the new Netgear can't cope with (not likely but possible) or your new Netgear router or filter or cable is faulty. In answer to your other question, lower noise margin ...
