Hey Guys I have a canon rebel XTi, and i had it for about 6 months now. I shoot in Larage mode, not in RAW. I tryed RAW yesterday and just took 4 pictures and i wanted to upload them to my computer by USB port, It said that no pictures where on my camera but there where 4 RAW pictures. So i seems like i can't get RAW on my computer over USB. why is this? anyway that i can.] I want to start ...

stop using the tool built into windows to handle cameras and scanners. grab the cd out of the the xti box, and install the canon software, they have a program that will handle RAW in there.

You can start with DPP for editing raw files. It is a good raw converter. Check out several websites that give step by step raw instruction; luminous landscape , radiant vista . If you are into itunes there are several video podcasts that are very good and free like from radiant vista. Personally, I would use photoshop to get the files off of the storage card. Make sure to use a card ...

I use photoshop to retrieve the raw images from my camera.

Your external HD can crash and will at some point. And the cost of getting info off a crashed drive is generally too high to bother with in most cases. Buy another external HD and keep your images in two places. And buy a card reader to download your images.
