Some might find this NPR broadcast interesting. Barack Obama has been portrayed as an outsider candidate an idealist not mired in the political game. But Ryan Lizza says that a look at Obama's political history in Chicago might offer a different view of the candidate. Lizza is the Washington correspondent for The New Yorker, and has been tracking the Obama ...

The article in the New Yorker is interesting in the same way. People focus on the cover . . . the wrong thing.       Post Extras:

Did you listen to it? It's an interesting portrait of Sen. Obama's oftentimes troublesome relationship with the political establishment. -- Cee Bee Double-U Post Extras:

To me Lizza comes off as a smarmy reporter who is pointing out that Obama is actually not the messiah and is really a politician. "Stop the presses, Obama was elected and has acted like a politician in the past in order to get elected!!" Since I am an avid Obama supporter my reaction can be written off by my blind obedience to my savior. Post ...

i haven't listened to the NPR report, but i have always chuckled under my breath at Obama's campaign trying to show a different kind of politics, etc. while he may not spend the money on negative campaigning, the bottom line is that Obama is a politician through and through. the difference between him and most others is that he is incredibly good at politics. kudos ...

Not much of that chuckling coming across here for the past few months. Instead, a whole lot of "difference" "change", "integrity" stuff held up in sharp contrast to that same-old Clinton politics. Gotta give it to you, guys, you show the kind of flexibility needed with a candidate like MrClean. Keep it coming, you'll need it. ;) Post Extras:...

the Clintons ran very negative ads (e.g., the 3 AM phone call) and the Clintons tried to co-opt Obama's campaign theme and the Clintons took huge amounts of money from special interests. the Clintons did everything i didn't like about the campaigns that took down Gore and Kerry. so don't get me wrong, that's very different than how Obama campaigns. but Obama is ...

I think there is something to the claims that Sen. Obama makes about politics. The thing though is that he is no absolutist. That said, he has not as of yet shown the kind of moral depravity that most people suspect when you say the word, "politician." Furthermore, his campaign has clearly steered all of its financiers away from independent attack organizations....

"But I think there is still a case to be made that he's not typical." You and newkojak seem to think alike on this, eh? I have actively observed presidential campaigns since 1968 and the hatred expressed by Obama followers toward Hillary exceeded anything the Reps ever threw at their opponents. Including the Horton ad! And please don't say that The Anointed One ...
