do you have the lastest version of iTunes? What OS are you running? Is it up-to-date? You're not running 64-bit Vista, are you?

We have the 7.5 version of Itunes, OS XP Proffessional SP2 (latest and greatest) and not running any Vista program. We've uninstalled Itunes several times w/w/out firewall etc, per some other discussions suggested. No luck yet...

I think the problem here is the part where you say "had it activated at the ATT store." The activation is supposed to take place using a specfic computer that it will sync to in the future. QS

That didn't seem to matter... It synched to the other 3 computers we have in our home- 2 macs and 1 other windows... It's just my specific configuration due to some unknown conflict- probably from one of my licensed real estate software programs? Apple engineers are trying to figure it out still! No luck... Tried all the USB ports, reexamined the msconfig, disconnected ALL windows ...

Thank you so much Zac. I have had this iPhone for 24 hours only, and its awesome but iTunes has been giving me ****. Everytime I plug in the iPhone to my self powered USB hub, all the other USB devices shut down. The iPhone seems to be USB power hungry. I am going to try your tips to see what works best. This is so frustrating and I hope I can solve this problem soon. Thanks again....

Then the devices turned back on and the iPhone started syncing. Now I can finally access iTunes! Hopefully your solution will fix this problem for good. Also a related note, will all this ...

Ran into this exact issue myself and found this discussion after googling 0xE8000001 and iphone. I do have a powered 7-port USB hub, and it's been working fine for months. This morning however I tried to email someone I added to my iPhone contact list yesterday and it didn't show up in Mail.app, that's when I noticed it hadn't synced. Trying the suggestions in this discussion ...
