Why spend $8billion in hopes of obtaining a clue to the origin of the universe at the risk of getting us all killed? Why not spend the money for research to find cure for cancer, etc. and fighting pollution?

Why don`t they just create and invent laser beams to fire on huge comets,meteors and asteroids on their way here. Or maybe, a self detonating hydrogen bomb enough to destroy us all before the Nokor`s nuclear bomb ANNIHILATE US.

Scary but I'm giving the scientists the benefit of the doubt. They are more knowledgeable on the matter. However, any experiment on this should be put on hold until after they have assured us satisfactorily that nothing of the kind stated above could happen.
