I'm seeing physical ads (around the area, not just online) for Windows Live Local almost as often as the common iPod ads now. (iPod still wins because my Red Line train is dressed in it.) Big time promotion campaign it appears.

Google has added building outlines to its maps. Example: Main & Akard . Skyscrapers get some shadowing, but even small buildings are included. They even show the buildings in Old City Park! But this feature only extends to the areas near downtown -- Cedars to the south, Uptown to the north, and east as far as Deep Ellum and Baylor. I don't know how this compares to the competition, ...

Looks like they are just displaying the top view of the 3D buildings they have modelled for Google Earth. Must have been easy enough for them to do, so why not? I would expect Microsoft to soon do the same with Windows Live Local.

Speaking of Google Earth, this is a pretty neat feature: http://www.panoramio.com/ (2gigs of free photo storage with which you can locate the photos via Google Earth). I guess this makes our Community Walk Photo Map obsolete.
