any thoughts about job security now? | Thread profile

i just wanted to know people's thoughts on job security after otsuka just dropped that big bomb on us last week at the NSM.

I would be concerned but not scared. This company has shown in the past that it is loyal to its employees. They have, in two previous occasions, kept their employees when most companies would have laid them off. I believe that we will have jobs here in the future.

I wouldn't bother interviewing. My boss told me to keep my eyes open for "other opportunities". The bomb is there may be lay offs!

That's a irresponsible comment and if you or your boss were at the NSM you were not reading btw the lines. I have been here 10+ years and I have seen a lot of ups and downs at OAPI but through it all they have been as honest as possible and have looked out for us the BEST they can. That being said my advice is to keep your doors open and don't turn down a great oppourtunity if it presents ...

What do you mean by "transition"? Do you actually think EVERYONE is going to be given a position, or will there be cuts? Seems like there is not "room" for everyone, and not all have the luxury of finding a job within the time frame of receiving severance pay. Hope all works out for the best!

Outsider considering applying here ... can someone give a candid appraisal of culture, current compnay perceptions, support of field force, etc. ... specifically related to the cardiovascular side. Much appreciated.

it all depends where you are applying and for whom you will work. However, old days of OAPI 'doing the right thing' are past. The concept 'every man for himself' is well embedded throughout the organization. That being said, I would look at other opportunities more seriously than this one, for those of you thinking of hiring on with OAPI. The CV drug in question may not come to market,...
