Quake-con logo... My biggest problem is that the Quake franchise has a very identifiable brand -- made up as SnakeMenPriest said - of the Quake font. I would think you would be better served using the word Quake in the Quake font and then more of a grunge/distressed font for the con. To me, your font selection just looks block. I've been a graphic designer for 5 years now. simplicity is key. Look at some of the most popular logos on earth. they're all instantly recognizable, because of their simple nature. Flashy stuff may look impressive, but you need something that builds instant brand recognition. Something that, when they see it, they immediately associate the logo with the product.
