Escape from New York alone made the man incredibely awesome...no matter what crap he did after that (which actually some of it still ruled), he would alwyas be forgiven due to doing that role.

Snake Plissken is pretty much the most badass character in film, next to John McClane, Dirty Harry, Mad Max, and Ash.
