1984 is here, It's just prettier looking... If it were every to get to that bleak look shown in that movie I think people would notice and do something about it but since it's not so obvious or our goals and desires seem to be driven by Coorperations trying to get us to buy stuff and magazines telling us how to act or TV telling us    everything starting to be regulated, smoking ...

Another theory i have is that movies showing Government dictatorships like in 1984 or Equilibrium always are bleak so if we ever do question our own society we tend to compare it to those Fictional books and movies where it's visually obvious how dark it is but if it's not that obvious visually .... we might push it off and say we're not even close to that sort of society?    ...
