stealing signs | Thread profile

Just curious, why are signs such a popular target for random (mainly drunk) theft? I've been stopped and searched twice now for suspicion of sign theft (both times I was innocent) and I've started to wonder why, they have no value, and they aren't really useful. Any ideas?

i used to work for the city of indianapolis pavement marking division, and the sign department was next to our building. i used to get signs out of the sign dept for my car hole (garage) so i could make a wall of signs. i did steal some speed bump signs down a road, they say " bump" "2 bump" "3 bump". they have since been replaced. i also have some stop signs (not taken from the road, from the ...

...because everything seems like a good idea when you are drunk. I have taken many, many signs when drunk. I would do it mainly to see if i could get away with it. haha...in retrospect, it was rather stupid. hil:

I was drunk one night, and almsot stole a sign that said "truck crossing" on it.... my better judgment kicked in, and I decided not to. lol

i'm totally pleading the 5th here..

i used to steal those flashy yellow lights on barricades

they make great floorpan patch panels, especially since they're almost all galvanized. the floor of my oldsmobile says "all dogs must be leashed. dogs to be kept off the beach"
