Quote Pete (Conz) Connelly: Hi, Would the Musicians Union PLI be suffice for a LTD company with employees on-site? It's my understanding a membership in the MU covers a person and not a company?!?! Cheers, Peter Why not telephone them on 020 7582 5566. I wish there was a professional body that put musicians first, unlike the MU that is a Labour Party first and considers ...

I'm fairly sure that our insurance people eventually turned into the people at http://www.towergaterisksolutions.co.uk/offices/sp ecialist-centres/enterta inment-events-industry.aspx It would probably be worth asking them for a quote if you haven't already. Bezerk, that is who my insurance broker has recommended us to go with, obviously via them. It might be worth going direct Cheers, Peter -------------------- PC, Win XP, Q6600 Quad Core, Intel DP35DP Motherboard, 2GB RAM (DDR-2 6400), Gigabyte 8500GT GFX, Delta 1010, 2x UAD PCI, Cubase 4.1.3, Sony Soundforge 9, Sony Vegas 8 Pro

I really don't understand insurance... I got a quote from Towergate via a Broker for £500 (£30k contents and PLI) and as I thought this was way too expensive, decided to try Towergate DIRECT (cutting out the middle man). They couldn't get anywhere close, so cutting out the middle man, in this case, has proved to be more expensive. I am totally baffled. Does anyone else have any ...

That's not a totally outrageous figure - we were paying £360 for about the same level of cover 10 years ago. You could easily double that figure by going to the wrong company. Cheers James. PS - it is the cover for the gear that costs the money. The public liability part is probably fairly cheap. -------------------- JRP Music - Audio Mastering and Restoration. http://www...

Quote James Perrett: PS - it is the cover for the gear that costs the money. The public liability part is probably fairly cheap. Hi James, It's pretty much 50/50, but if you think that's a good price I'll probably go for it. I just read on another PLI thread that people were getting it for £40 - £50 on top as a package with their other insurance. I would love to know who ...

Are you doing anything particularly risky? Are you after a high level of cover? Are you asking for employers liability insurance too? £250 seems a little high for basic public liability for an owner run studio. I wonder if you've misunderstood one of the questions and given an answer that has drastically upped the premium. Cheers James. -------------------- JRP Music - Audio ...

Hi James, There's nothing risky and the insurers are aware it's just me in my studio with the odd client from time to time. I'd probably say there'd be no more than 2 clients in my room per month, if that... I just want the bare minimun as I'm not a commercial recording studio as such. I'm baffled.
