Would have been cool to see this one just go all out and get an R-rating, but I'm sure the studio didn't want to alienate 13-16 year olds. Maybe an unrated cut on DVD.

Why? For an entirely randomly estimated 98% of his thousands and thousands of comics appearances, Batman has been PG or "PG-13" at the very most.
