depends, you could use it plus the original, or could get rid of the stock and just use the electric. also for wiring it. i would just wire a switch through the dash.

You have a few options for wiring it up. 1. Wire it through a relay, with a switch in your dash to turn it on/off manually. With this version you have more control over the system, but you also run the risk of over heating (you can forget to turn it on). 2. Wire it so that it will turn off and on automatically when needed. Meaning that once the coolant reaches a certain temperature the...

You can also have a manual switch on top of the auto, if you plan on doing any deep water crossing you don't want the fan on.... Bad things will happen.

I ran a soupy watery mud bog shortly after installing my electric fan. It sheared a blade off the fan, which got caught up in the front of the motor and stopped the fan from turning, blew the fuse, it got ugly. You definitely want to be able to turn it off manually.

Yeah, once I got it straightened out and rewired (it had a mini fuse holder in it originally and I didn't carry any minis so I put a regular fuse holder in it) it vibrated like crazy going home.

With this version you have more control over the system, but you also run the risk of over heating (you can forget to turn it on). 2.
