I Give Up! Last weekend I upgraded from Office 2003 Pro to Office 2007 Enterprise which I got under a Home Use Policy. Ever since installing Office 2007 each application installs and configures itself when the application is launched. Outlook also goes through the routine frequently when it checks for new mail or sends mail. I have accepted the fact that MS has no fix for this and want to ...

If you are finding that Office 2007 is acting up, then there is obviously a problem with the install. You wrote "I have accepted the fact that MS has no fix for this and want to revert to Office 2003 Pro." This of course is not true. If Office 2007 behaved like this normally for everyone then there would be many more posts repeating your statement. Let me first tell you how to fix ...

Eric A., I ran into some differences and problems. I was unable to locate the following in the registry and assume they were deleted when I did the uninstall. ⢠HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\*0FF1CE* ⢠HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UpgradeCodes\*F01FEC ⢠HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\...

Your assumptions were correct. Many of those keys should not have been there, but I like to give them all in case there is a problem with the uninstall. The problem you are seeing now is definitely a problem reading from source. Did you download an Office 2007 ISO from somewhere and then burn to dvd? Is it retail media? If you downloaded the Office 2007 .ISO and then burned it to DVD ...

Additional suggeston to the OP, if you have two CD/DVD drives, a burner and a ROM try installing with the Office DVD in the burner. I've found that I've had success reading CD/DVDs with the burner that the reader cannot read. -- XS11E, Killing all ...

Thank You. I'm beginning to think this is a lost cause. I tried what you suggested, and what XS11E suggested, to no avail. I ended up using the Windows restore function to restore to a point before I installed Office 2007. Then I followed your registry/file clean-up procedure. After that I was able to install Office 2007 from the CD but the install/configure problem still exists. I do...

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried using both drives with no luck. Used "System Restore" and then was able to install the application from the media. I have a new laptop with Wordperfect 12 installed. I would like to have Office 2003. Is it possible just to buy an 2003 upgrade, or will I have to buy a full version?

Hi Jack, The 'simple' <g> answer to your question is yes, you can buy Groove client licenses separately and install it alongside Office 2003. You may want to also post the question in the MS Office Groove discussion group with additional details about how your Windows and Office environment/model (i.e. are these desktops, accessed remotely, thin clients, etc) and how you'd be using Groove to get additional detail...

If your copy of Office 2003 came preinstalled on your old computer by the computer manufacturer, then it is probably an OEM (not retail) version of Office, which means the software is only licensed for installation on the computer that the computer manufacturer installed it on, and the software cannot be transferred to any other computer. Read your Office 2003 End User License Agreement to verify. ROG wrote: > Garfield -- thanks for...
This is resolved. I reformatted the hard drive and restored it to the configuration that was in place when I purchased the computer. When it was time I installed Office 2003 to avoid additional frustration. I appreciate the time and efforts of all who tried to help. Best Regards Dennis "Dennis" wrote: > I Give Up! I would like to thank everyone who has responded to this question. Yes, my copy of Office 2003 was a retail purchase and it's here in the box. So I don't expect any problems now that I have this information. By the way, my "method" for deleting the hard drive before giving systems to charity is to physically remove the hard drive from the case and then use an electric, bulk eraser on it to just suck everything off....
