Casino Royale: My first ever Bond DVD purchase. | Thread profile

It wasn’t until half way through the DVD that I suddenly realised that this was the first ever Bond movie I have ever bought. To be honest it was not bought as a Bond movie but as a very good movie altogether, being Bond is an added bonus. This proves that the movie is a powerful and exciting piece of cinema experience that the DVD just had to be the next logical step to continue...

UPDATED Tue Mar 20 2007 00:49:02 I agree that Casino Royale was much-needed to reinvigorate Bond, but it's in the bottom half of my favourites list. It's funny - of the four you mention I think Goldfinger and The Man With The Golden Gun are excellent, but Thunderball and Live And Let Die were pretty average. Craig is a better actor by far, but a new actor coupled with a "new" and different Bond was a little jarring. I do think that given a couple more movies Craig will evolve into a better Bond than Brosnan. "If I have any genius it is a genius for living" - Errol Flynn

Most verily I say unto thee...I have to admit that I was disappointed with CASINO ROYALE as I found it slow and poorly paced with a weak climax. Nevertheless it was a long way from the disastrous lows of THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH which were by far the worst Bond movies.
