Hi folks! I just bought Massive because it's pad sounds and FX. However, I found I can't generate sound as fat as Surge which use only one oscillator plus Uni Count and Uni Spread. How should I do? Is this unmodifiable? Thanks for any insight.

Click on the voicing tab in Massive's GUI- you'll be able to not only select the number of unison voices, but also be able to specify pitch, wavetable position and panning spread amounts. Plus, you can modulate any or all of those. ew ---- A spectral heretic...

For a very digital sounding synth, Surge is really good. YMMV, but I find Surge to have ...

Hi ew! Thanks for your kindly reply. Yes, I have used Massive's voicing part, but still can't get the sound as fat/thick as Surge. I think it is due to their basic waveform have different characters, so make them the same maybe demanding. Isn't it? Since I preference fat/bulky sounds more than clean/bright sounds, my choise seems miss the point. By the way, this was my ...

Just for Informational purposes , Simon Cann has chosen to include Surge in the new , hardcopy version of his book "how to make a noise". There is some great info on how to use this synth in the book . Also 1.5 has been out awhile now , and includes lots of improvements including new filters and Fm modes. I think the manual is good at letting you know whats available in the synth , but it...

I quickly fell in love with Surge... and each time I see a thread like this I would check out Massive... and I can't explain why but I just do not like the sound of it. I went with Surge first and I stand by that decision. I think if they were both out when I made my purchase I'd do the same thing again. Mark
