I've had some trouble with this one for a while and just thought of it. Someone said this might be Maximum Overdrive, but wasn't sure. I remember the scene where a small group of people were walking through a warehouse and wondering where their friend was. Their friend was deaf. They turned around and saw him, then started waving at him because there was a garbage truck racing up...

The scene you describe sounds familiar but I don't think it is from Maximum Overdrive. Are you sure that the friend was deaf, or could he have had earphones or something in his ears?

i remember them being at the diner mostly in MO...and the kid getting roller over in the baseball field.....something like that think it was something else

I'm certain he was deaf. Damn I wish I could remember another scene in the movie. I remember this one so well because I was younger when I watched it and it was a climactic moment because you knew he was going to get hit. Now I look back and really like the way they cut to a profile shot of him getting hit, (a dummy of course). But he held his hand in the air while the troubled look ...

This sounds INCREDIBLY familiar. So thanks for twisting my mind in a knot, too! If it's not Maximum Overdrive, maybe... Invasion of the Body Snatchers? I think the pod people picked up dead human remains in garbage trucks - maybe one did the killing, too?
