Genie garage door opener-how do I get more wireless openers? | Thread profile

I just purchased a home with a Genie garage door opener. The seller lived alone and thus only needed one opener for her vehicle. Between my fiancee and I we have three vehicles we use on a regular basis, and we would like to use the garage as our main access to the house. How difficult/expensive is it to get two additional wireless openers programmed for our unit?

You should be able to get them anyplace that sells Genie openers- I believe HD and/or Lowes have them. Once you buy the remote, there's usually a little button on the opener that you hold down while pointing the remote at the opener and pushing the remote button- that syncs the remote to your opener.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. If instructions don't come with the opener you can find them on genie's website.

You will have to program the remote to match the other remote control and garage door opener. Easy to do - just take the cover off the new remote and move the small switches inside.

As people said, there are lots of compatible units available at hardware stores. Just make sure you can figure out what type of opener you have. Almost all the new openers (new being in the last 10 years or so) are rolling codes. You program them to the door. The older ones are single coded, so you program them by learninging from another remote or setting dip switches. One type of remote won't...
