Two very powerful features that set Cubase apart from most other hosts are: --- Macros (assign a keycommand to a macro to automate certain common sequences of clicks), to reconsider onw of Mr. Tunes' suggestions: a macro along the lines of "set locators to selection - jump to left locator - start playback" assigned to "p" is even more useful --- Logical Editor - what a mighty tool, ...

A great thing that you can do in Cubase, which I find great for songwriting is assign a MIDI pedal to Select Next Track in the Generic Remote. Whilst this might not sound too exciting, when you press record you can tune into whatever instrument you are playing and when you are happy with a take, click the footswitch and Cubase seamlessly jumps to the next track and continues recording. (as ...

* Setting the event (loop) markers to a "negative" so that the normally "right" indicator is before the "left" will cause make Cubase skip that section upon playback (cycle must be activated). Cool if you want to skip over a certain part of a song. * Insert a blank section and move everything to the right by highlighting a region then Shift+Ctrl+E.

No matter the music style one prefer having good templates is the most useful advice i can give anyone. Fire Cubase up and all the most used plugs inserted, perhaps turned off, all the routing, includin side chain buses. Don't let technical bs get in the way. If you don't like freeze function, by using stacked tracks (0r folder tracks for MIDI), mute tool and ...

I'd be inclined to make another thread about it, coz this seems to be more of an uncover-the-secrets-already-in-Cubase, but what the hell. ----

Another thing that speeds things up for me: * It's faster to render individual tracks than soloing a track and bouncing down via the main bus. If you have a heavy project and you're, say, just trying to bounce down the drum bus, select the drum bus Group output in the Export Audio dialogue and watch it fly! * You can avoid the annoying Export Audio dialogue altogther with VSTi: ...

Excellent thread. Cubase 4 actually has a manual, but that doesn't really make it much easier in practice. While we're at it, does anyone know if there's a quick way to re-size the main view after going into an instrument GUI? This is the one thing that drives me nuts, but I'm sure there must be a workaround that I'm missing. Cheers -B ---- Berfab So many plugins, so ...
