UPDATED Sun Jun 29 2008 00:34:44 Truthfully I can hardly distinguish one from another, they all sort of blend together. Standouts are usually the narrative character who binds the stories together, usually it's Peter Cushing, but Burgess Meredith plays quite the devil as well. Still, my ranking would be something like this, 1.From Beyond the Grave - I think it's more ...

Still, my ranking would be something like this, 1.From Beyond the Grave - I think it's more lavish than the others, with more impressive sets, richer color, and possibly more expressive cinematography. The cast is exceptional as well, Donald Pleasence's own daughter proves as wicked as her father. I believe this is the outstanding directorial debut of Kevin Connor (Motel Hell),...

I hope that Grost chimes in, he's a bigger fan of Amicus than I am. I'm more of a Hammer guy, I like the period gothic look with all the costumes and the settings, and of course all of the vampires, werewolves, and mummies. Have you ever seen Celler Dweller? It's a fun little stand alone homage to EC Comics, more like Creepshow than Amicus but still something you might enjoy. "...

I'm more of a Hammer guy, I like the period gothic look with all the costumes and the settings, and of course all of the vampires, werewolves, and mummies. It would be a great pleasure to hear Grost's thoughts on the Amicus anthologies and further discuss them. Oh and I love Hammer too, prefering them over the ...

I am particularly fond of the Terence Fisher Frankenstein films (amongst my favorites ever) or rather anything featuring Terence Fisher as director. Me too, Revenge is a film that gets better every time I see it. It's possibly my favorite Cushing performance. "One does not easily forget herr Baron...an arm torn out by the roots."

UPDATED Sun Jun 29 2008 09:35:11 I saw most of them in the theater growing up - Tales From The Crypt (1972) (especially the Joan Collins segment "All Through The House") and Asylum (1972) were my favorites. I recently bought the entire set of TV's Boris Karloff's Thriller (1960-1962) on DVD and was pleasantly surprised to find that two of the tales, Cornell Woolrich's...

I recently bought the entire set of TV's Boris Karloff's Thriller (1960-1962) on DVD and was pleasantly surprised to find that two of the tales, Cornell Woolrich's "Papa Benjamin" and Robert Bloch's "The Weird Tailor" were later used in Amicus' Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors and Asylum, respectively. An Ida Lupino-directed episode, "Trio For Terror", has three horror stories introduced ...

Peter Cushing's Hammer output is simply phenomenal. One of the greatest actors ever to grace the screen and equals with Price and Karloff in the horror genre. I'm the Lord of the Harvest.
