Hi, I have an AC/AC Adaptor Class 2 Power Supply output 12vac 200mA 2.5W that is used to power a water fountain for our cat. Well, he decided to chew through the cord (and used one of his 9 lives!). Anyways, I'd like to repair the cord for the plug, as a new one will cost 18.50 from the manufacturer. I've seperated the wire, stripped an inch off on each side, and was going to just twist the ...

If this is on the 12 volts side. I would use a butt splice. It will look cleaner, but your way would work. If it is on 120 volt side, replace it. Yes I am a pirate

Another solution if you have a small soldering iron would be to twist the wires together and solder them. You could then either use electrical tape or heat shrink tubing. Heat shrink tubing would probably make a nicer looking job. The butt connectors that jbfan spoke of might be the best if you don't have a soldering iron. Just twisting the wires together and taping them, will not make a ...

Thanks for the advice. I'd be inclined to try the butt slice, but how do I determine if it's on the 120 volt side? I don't have my digital camera with me right now, but I'd describe it as being between the plug/transformer square piece that plugs into the wall socket, and before the end that is a round male cylinder that plugs into a female cyclinder plug that is the actual pump. Here's a ...

Yes the 120 volt side is the two prongs that go into the plastic box. There is no cord on that side of the adapter. It is a direct plug in. Go with the butt splices on the cord if you want. Polarity doesn't matter as it's AC.

Thanks very much! Went out and bought the butt splices yesterday, and fixed it this morning. Cat's very happy to have his water fountain back!
