My co worker is looking at this deal for $1700 @ Dell.com. It includes free shipping. I don't know anything about this BR player or the Aquos. Iggy, I'll have my Sharp review up soon as well. I can say, without much more testing, that the Sharp is not a very good SD-DVD player. So, if your friend is looking for an all-in-one player, the Sharp is not for him. Unless hes not a videophile . . .
