I am a personal trainer, and I can't seem to understand why many trainers I work with do the job full-time. I started off with in-home training, in which I charged $45/session. I then moved on to work at a very up-scale gym. Sessions are $65/hour, but I only see $30 of that. I also do small group training and exercise classes, which I get 40% of. So if 10 people sign up, each paying $20 for ...

How much money can a personal trainer make? How many hours per week do they typically work? What are the pros and cons of the job? (I live in Canada). I'm thinking about becoming one. Is this 200 characters yet?

If you work for a YMCA or one of the chain gyms, you probably are not making a lot of money. If you want to make a lot of money in that business, you have to be a trainer to the stars. I think for many of them, it is a part time job. The pros..........free membership. The cons...........if you work for one of these politically correct chain gyms, you have to give people compliments even if ...

Depends. Avg in the united states is about 40-50 per hour for what they charge, but the gym they train at usually takes 25-30%(some are 50%) of that out of their pay. Most personal trainers usually have a second job, and I wouldn't make this a primary job unless you have tons of clients to train week in and week out. This is one of those jobs that can be really easy and fun, or a big pain in...

A lot less than they did not that many years ago on average. Market is getting a shade flooded from what I have been hearing lately... and they are pushing people through certification quicker and quicker. Good luck if you are serious about looking for work in the industry.

if you are doing it for the money, you will be doing it for the wrong reasons. if you are wanting to be a personal trainer because you love the work, the money will come. I have a few friends that are personal trainers in the Vancouver area. One works for a company and yes, she splits her 65 dollars an hour with the company she works for. Another works for himself and does very well for ...

Listen to Crazytimes. Hes right. Its a silly career choice. About as useful as being a makeup artist. You might work, you might not. Crazy is right abouit the certification now. Its a friggin weekend course...A WEEKEND COURSE!!!!! They charge 85 bucks an hour in my gym. They are good. But its not much of a living when you consider thats maybe one or two clients a day. Personal trainers, like...

I am working on my certification as we speak. I am going with NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine). And yes, there are cheapos out there for certificaitons that people can get, like anything, but where you end up working at or who you end up working for will decide on your direction, because alot of gyms only hire specific certifications for trainers. so you have to do your HOMEWORK. ...

When I worked at World Health Club, the top trainers were making $4000-$4500 take-home pay per month. If you work for a big gym or club chain, you don't make very much money at the start. It seems that there is a standard "break-in" period at the start where you'll have to be working 50 hours a week to build up your client base. Once you get that going, you make a steady income. Depending ...
