I use Safelog, I looked at Logbook Pro but chose Safelog because for me it seemed a little more intuitive. Someone else might say the same for Logbook Pro. My opinion is that both work very well for 91, 135, 121 flying. I saw the post saying that Safelog doesn't work well for 121, not sure where the issue lies, I see no issues at all. I makers of Safelog are very responsive to questions ...

Hey all, I got the trial versions of logbook pro and safelog. LBP seems to be the more professional program, so that's where I'm leaning. Does anyone use safelog to tell me about any advantages? Are there any others that folks suggest I look at? LBP is the most expensive one I've seen, but I suppose if you guys say it's top quality, then it's worth the investment. What do you guys think?

You have to renew safelog every 4 years? Thanks. Now I know what not to buy.

I "bought" Safelog a couple years ago. It is okay. IMHO it lends itself to part 91 and 135 better than to 121. I am going to keep using it until my license runs out (if i remember correctly it is a four year license) because I have too much time invested in converting my paper logs. I have never used LBP, so I can't compare the two, but there must be something better than Safelog.

... so those of you who have electric logbooks, does that mean you dont even keep a paper copy anymore? obviously the point of electric logbooks is because its easy and blah blah blah, but whats the point of keeping an electric AND a paper log?

I sorta keep both. The electronic version being my primary. The only time I print a hard copy is when i need one for what ever reason, IE - interview. Once it's printed I just store it until the time comes, assuming it does, I need an updated hard copy. I then just print the extra pages.

i guess what i meant by paper copy is a logook you'd actually write in... like the book you did your training in with all your endorsements and signitures and crap. for instance... i have 350ish hours and my paper log is only about half full, if i start an electronic logbook, do i just stop making entries in my paper one? everyone ...

Essentially, you must keep any old logbooks that have endorsements because this is the only way to verify your instructors endorsments. I still have my training logbook to show evidence of training and endorsments but have since, only kept an electronic logbook. I don't use any of those expensive logbook programs on the market...they just ...

I use logbook pro. I like it. It was especially handy when keeping track of time in make/model while instructing. Now it's a backup to my paper log. I use it primarily to check math on my paper log. Its also handy for keeping track of 121 time limits. I fill out logbook pro from my little blue book after every trip and then do my paper log monthly. One of the other big perks is ADPL. I have every intention of starting to use this as soon...
